RE: Fresh Water Tank

Same as others we do not drain fresh water tank between trips.
We do drain prior to the start of a new trip. I remove the filter cartridge when filling the fresh water tank. This assures all the chemicals that the water company adds stays in the water.
IMHO I feel the water will stay fresher longer. :h
FWIW
Good luck and enjoy the journey.

RE: Electric step not working

Helpful hints
Kwikee Web Site:
Tech Tips:
Here’s a few troubleshooting tips:
The slightest bind will by design stop the motor.
If the step light is operating this indicates the controller is ok.
Disconnect and clean contacts on 4-prong and power connectors. Use a good electrical contact cleaner. (Radio Shack)
Check for loose grounds.
Pull clevis pin and lube all pivot points. The steps must move freely otherwise the controller will interrupt the power.
It that doesn’t work, pull the motor it is held in place by 3 eleven millimeter hex screws.
If these tips don’t work call Kwikee. They are great people to work with.
Good luck

RE: Holding Tanks and Treatment

Hi Solojoe,
I started using the Bio-method exclusively this season and it does work.
I’ve used Clorox and laundry detergent in the past in our TTs and the coach for years without any problems. IMO it’s the water softener in the Bio-method that does the trick by keeping everything slippery and breaking down the solid waste.
It may very well resolve your gauge issue since it really does help keep the tanks clean.
Remember to add the treatment prior to starting down the road. The solution sloshing around as you roll down road is the answer.
Like the old commercial says, try it your like it.
Good luck

RE: One Night of Boondocking Versus RV Park?

We have used the big box store’s parking lots for overnight stays.
Another alternative when available is PassPort America sites.
We joined Passport America a couple a years go. Most have a few pull thru sites, nothing fancy, ideal for in route overnights.
The annual membership fee is $44.00. It pays for itself with saving on the first trip.\ with 50% of CG fees.
Checkout their website
We highly recommend their service.
Good luck and enjoy the journey.

RE: Front Wheel Noise

Here's another suggestion
We solved the creaking wheel noise problem by placing flat washers on the wheel cover mounting studs.

RE: Slideout problem on the road

Have you checked to see if you have all the conditions correct, in park, emergency brake on, ignition on or engine running, fuses?
Sometimes we overlook the obvious.
Good luck

RE: ford tranny shifting

I kick it out of cruise when approaching steep grades or hills. Then ease up on the gas pedal to keep the engines from hits those high revs.
I guess it is old school but my blood runs cold when I see (hear) 4800 5100 RPMs. So I let my foot off the gas pedal. I don’t have to the first one over the hill.
IMHO
FYI, this method also reduces fuel consumption.
Good luck and enjoy the journey.

RE: Request for help to stop Township RV zoning ordinance

June 10, 2008
UPDATE ON PROPOSED RV PARKING ORDINANCE
The proposed RV parking ordinance was initiated on the fact that an individual brought a new 42 foot MH and parked it on the street. Where he in turn leveled the unit ran all the hook-ups across his lawn and planned to leave it there. The neighbors approached him and asked him to move the vehicle from the street. He was quoted to say there are no ordinances to stop me. Well the neighbors band together and made a pitch to Council back in at the April open meeting. Low and behold the proposed RV parking ordinance.
*EDIT* Opps, forgot to mention the neighbors have reached an agreement. The coach has been moved and everyone is satisfied.
The meeting went well last night there were ten to twelve RV owners opposing the ordinance and one non-RV owner demanding the proposed ordinance be voted on.
Long story short the Council agreed to remove the proposal from the agenda. While investigate further.
This in political jargon is a CYA statement in case the individual who started the mess continues to fight.
Thanks again for the quick responses and all your advise.

Request for help to stop Township RV zoning ordinance

Our Township is considering a zoning ordinance to eliminate parking Recreational Vehicles in driveways.
Looking for logical rebuttals to suggest not implementing the ordinance.
Thanks for your thoughts.

RE: How do you MANUALLY level an RV?

In our prior to leveler days we first established what was our of level left to right and front to back. Then we would set our ramps under the appropriate tires and drive on to the ramps to level.
To determine where to place the ramps we used two torpedo levels. One facing front to back the other left to right. There are a variety of different levels available for leveling. We found the two torpedo levels worked best.
Keep in mind that leveling is more for the efficiently of the refrigerator operation than for your comfort. So we used the levels in the refrigerator to assure it was level.
As stated in earlier post the screw jacks are used to stabilize not level a Motorhome.

RE: What can I do to correct or eliminate foggy headlights?

Headlight UPDATE
:h
Driver’s side headlight:
Moisture accumulating inside lower headlight.
Remove headlight assembly and dried using hair dryer and compressed air. Once dry I inspected the assembly. Then caulked around the front & back seam of the assembly. Cleaned the lamp seals with rubber conditioner and reinstalled
Thanks again for the suggestions

RE: What can I do to correct or eliminate foggy headlights?

Hey guys, sorry for the foggy description. :S
It is moisture getting into the fixtures causing water to form and then gets foggy. The lens themselves are still clear.
I’ll call Tech Support today at Tiffin.
Sounds like I’ll be pulling the fixtures and checking them for leaks.
I get a lot of oh that’s old school from my son-in-laws. IMHO here’s another old school idea that has gone new school and doesn’t work. What happened to the good old sealed beams?
Another idea that was suggested was to drill holes in the bottom of the lens to allow the moisture to drain. What are your thoughts on that approach?
Thanks again for all the suggestions.
